I just read this guy's story where he mentioned that he lived abroad in college for a summer. I want to do that. How can I do that? It's like the number 1 thing on my bucket list is to live abroad/study abroad/period of time in another country.
Ask your student asvisor/mentor, or search on your university's website. I'm studying abroad right now, my home university is part of a group of universities around the world that "exchange" students. If your university doesn't have a program like that, though, it's gonna be reaaaaaally expensive to figure it all out on your own.
You studied abroad and came to Oklahoma?!? My university does have a study abroad program/department/scholarships/financial aid/etc Why Oklahoma?!?! *shudders*
I do not go there. I go to University in Texas. They have tons of options for study abroad, according to their website. I'll talk to my advisor about it soon.
I'm preparing to do an exchange program next year. Every university has different processes I'm sure, but the best place to start would be talking to your advisor about programs your school has. They can range from four-week programs in the summer where a professor from your university travels with a group of students to year-long studying abroad where you take classes in the native language. I'm copping out of the language barrier and going to Australia for a semester. My university's engineering school has exchange programs where you take their classes but get credit and pay the tuition from your home university.
I'd like to do a yearlong exchange program. That'd be neat. Somehow I'd like to spend a year studying in Europe somewhere, most likely. Australia would be fun though.
just the other day my professor went over the study abroad/ exchange study programs... I got super excited for it. Where I'm going to school it costs $4,000 to go on a summer program, about 3 or 4 weeks... if i ever did one of those things i'd probably choose Australia, or Paris, or Rome. She also talked about a "round the world" airplane ticket, sounds like a super amazing vacation... If only I had the courage to travel by myself
I'd love to just travel. I'd even do it by myself. However, I think studying abroad will give me a better experience since I'm in college.
