Because the rights of atheists, muslims, jews, and countless other faiths don't matter. By his logic, even if they did allow prayer in schools and there was a shooting, it was because there were muslim students or the atheists refused to pray. What bullshit. God didn't help because he is an imaginary friend for adults.

Am I surprised? Not really, these people will do anything they can to get attention from the public. However, one would think they would have some sort of respect for the grieving parents. The fact that they don't just shows the world the kind of horrible people they are. Honestly, the best way to get back at the atrocity that they will be doing is to just blatantly ignore it and them. They're like a child throwing a tantrum who is acting out to get attention. By even acknowledging them, you're giving them exactly what they want.

You have to understand their weird theology. They are five point Calvinist Baptists. Their theology is this: tolerance of homosexuality dooms nations irrevocably. The United States does not have the death penalty for gay sex. Therefore, homosexuality is tolerated. Therefore, we are doomed irrevocably.

Now, here's where it gets really good.

Every time something really bad happens, the faithful must go and rub that tragedy in everyone's face, because that is a manifestation of God's judgment for tolerating homosexuality (i.e. the government not systematically killing us).

Now, here's where it gets really, really good.

We must all repent of our sins and the sins of others, even though as Calvinists, they believe only they are in the Elect, so we're all going to burn in Hell anyway. Everyone who isn't them is damned, either because they are queer, support queer people, or hate us but not enough to want to kill us, or believe in stuff like mainstream Christianity (i.e. the rejection of the Elect), which the Westboro Baptist Church considers heresy.

TL;DR: God hates America because we don't have the death penalty for being gay, and everything bad that ever happens is God slowly destroying the country (evidently, he's really fucking bad at it, if all he can do is get a little kid off his rocker to go kill other little kids). Ya, because Calvinism makes sense. :rolle:

I wish we could airbrush out the Baptist, cuz I AM A TRUE BAPTIST! They make us all look bad.

 

It sucks that one part of "Christianity" can make the rest look bad. There are good churches out there. I have many friends that are Christians and they don't hate the gays. It's the crazy fundies that cause problems. They are the ones that drive a ton out of religion.

It doesn't surprise me that WBC is doing this. They tried to picket Chardon too. Too many people showed up to protest them though.. So they left.
