Kid with two moms on Disney

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by phospholipase, Dec 24, 2012.

  1. I was just sitting on the couch when this short/commercial came up on the Disney Channel. This kid has two moms, and I think it's cool that Disney featured it

I like how they didn't make the whole thing about how he has two moms. I thought it was cool because it showed that besides his parents being gay there is no difference between him and someone with a "traditional family". Well done Disney.

I hope that's not why he was getting bullied :frowning2:

^ Kind of a dumb statement on second thought. Any reason is a dumb reason to get bullied XP

Huh! Disney, you have gained some respect back after turning your TV programs into the most predictable pieces of garbage I never wish to see again. Well done!

Wow really good video. Not only the fact that the by has two moms but they were portrayed as ordinary, but also that he's conscious enough to make a video against bullying. It's a great effort at such a young age. He deserves my applause.

I'm just shocked that Disney has a character with two parents of ANY gender. It was a running joke that in every cartoon, the main characters came about via parthenogenesis, because you only ever saw one parent.

  13. For those who can't watch it, the title is "Ben is a Filmmaker! - Make Your Mark - Disney Channel Official." It's only a couple minutes long and runs during commercials, so I think it might be more difficult to find.

That's how all the parents were for iCarly! I miss iCarly. I kinda wish the series didn't have to end.

    EDIT
Does this link help any :\?

I am one of Ben's moms. I want to thank all of you for your supportive messages. Ben is a well adjusted heterosexual fourteen year old boy. He was never bullied for having two moms. He was bullied for being short. We want everyone to know that the Disney spot was about Ben's PSA and not having two moms. Disney, to their credit, wanted to normalize our family and chose to include that he had two moms. Kudos to Disney.

  17. Liked Disney and still do. They've gained my respect. In fact, the other day I was thinking about how all relationships in the shows were portrayed as heterosexual, which is obviously not a problem. Hugs @twomoms, your wife, and son. Also to Disney, who chose to feature this.
