Did anyone else just feel that earthquake?? OK, so more like a tremor maybe... At first I didn't know what was going on (the UK isn't exactly famed for them), but then lots of my books fell off my shelf, and the whole house was shaking. I was mainly confused, not having felt one before...

(I realise that compared to many places this was minor - 4.7 or 5.0 I think? - but still. Although I hope no one was hurt)

Didn't feel a thing! It hit London as loads of my friends text me asking if I felt it, but nothing.
    Odd...

Probably. My house is so rickety that when a car goes past too quickly, it shakes.

I'd have noticed nothing untoward, just assuming it was that.

Yep. I was awake and I felt my bed shaking. It was only slight where I was but it still gave me a scare!

I didn't think you got earthquakes in the UK. Here in NZ they are very common because we are situated on the plate boundary. The last earthquake I felt here was 3 weeks ago and I remember one time at primary school there were 7 earthquakes in 1 day. Though we haven't had a big earthquake in my region since 1990, although there was one decent one in Gisborne just before Christmas which I felt here. For me earthquakes have never been anything to worry about, but I guess in England it must be pretty freaky for you.

The only things that can wake me up are alarms. So I never felt it.

I always wanted to experience an earthquake... *sniff*

Maybe because buildings only sway more at the top or something? Mostly chimneys were damaged and not much else, so maybe...
