guess what was in my student email today? I was so happy! "Congratulations! You are one of two recipients of the Washington Chapter of the Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA) scholarships. The Chapter raised one thousand dollars to support two students from the state of Washington for the 2012-2013 academic year. It is based on the academic standing and financial need. The financial aid recommended that you be one of these two students receiving the $500 scholarship. The chapter requests that I talk with you about the GUAA before the funds are released to your account. When can we meet? Again, congratulations! Sam Sonnenstrahl, '79 & G-'84 Executive Director, GUAA" yeaaaa! God is good! Now, I planned to save money buying less meal plans (i didn't eat 3 times a day) and if I can get a few more like this I will not be spending all my savings! I will also write for school newspaper more and make a few hundred. Who else is getting or trying to get scholarships?

thanks very much! it wasn't anything i had applied for either, it was just bestowed upon me. i felt so honored! i will make them glad they gave it to me, i will earn it. my intent it is learn all i can to help grain equality for all Deaf and HOH students. i take this as a sign from Above that I am doing the right thing by forging ahead in school.
That's really nice Congratulations...and yep you can save a lot of money by that, like me hehehe i am getting scholarship by our Provincial Governor and it helps me a lot.
Yeah, JP! Awesome for you! Thanks BQ too! I just filled out the FAFSA and hope soon to get my financial aid award letter for next year. Sooner in, more money you can get. They had a snafu last year, not my fault, school computer fault! Because of that, I may have not gotten much on a secondary grant. I still need to get about $7-8000 more. Any ideas welcome!
