I have been swimming for the past few years and all of my hard work is building up into this one swim meet which is this Friday. I currently am going a 57 on my 100 fly which is considered a very strong swim time in my state but I worry that others on my team could somehow drop a ton of time and take my spot at state which could get me the scholarship I need for college. This is basically me hoping that all of you out there are cheering for me ^.^
I'm not sure about how it works in swimming, but I know that in running, you're supposed to tone down the intensity of your training a little bit and to avoid trying to sneak in extra workouts. I hope that you can relax, focus, and succeed on Friday. Don't stop training, but just concentrate one what feels right.
I am a swim coach. I want you to use that nervous energy tomorrow, i call it the juice and it is your friend. Take a few deep breaths right before the race, hit your turns and let's see a solid 56 tomorrow, I know you can do it.
And the results are in!! Our team took first. I went a 24.55 on my 50 fly split in the 200 medley relay. I went a 24.9 on my 50 free (which is just weird that it is slower). I took THIRD in the whole region with my 100 fly time of 56.47! I get to go to state with that time and also senior state as well! Today was a good day!
