Just wondering what people's opinions are on humans and animals. It's still a discussion today whether or not humans are animals mostly because of religious factors so I just wanted to get ECs views on it, too!

Personally, I think we are animals. I mean, seriously. We are very intelligent and complex animals, yes. Extremely. But we are animals, nonetheless. That does not makes us bad, or is something to be ashamed about.

But of course, humans tend to have big egos, so of course many are not going to want to say they're 'animals' like everything else on the earth. But we have needs, instincts, common qualities like all of the rest.

but not everyone believes in the same religion >_>

In a biological aspect, yes, humans are animals. we have eukaryotic cells, we have organized organ system, we have specialized cells, we have embryology similarities, we have anatomical similarities.... our DNA structure is also almost the same to even a mouse! I can go on and on and on and on about this...

but yet, humans have power over other animals.
We can disrupt an ecosystem with something simple like water pollution and fire, we can cause light pollution, sound pollution, we can alter landscape with machines and tools. We, as the same species who can interbreed with one another, spreads all over the climates. Animals on the other hand? they have their own mechanism that restricts them to certain climates unless they survive.

We are animals and I don't know why that isn't outlined in schools. We are just better able to manipulate our surroundings and other creatures around us. That is what we do by nature.

    Ba'dum chhh! Great stuff.

I think a difference is that humans aspire to be something, have goals. I'm not sure animals carry out this higher cognitive action. The ability to invent is very much a human quality. Yes, apes can use tools. But invention is different and in my eyes a purely human characteristic.

    +1 for the biology description.

We as humans are mammals, yeah. Homo sapiens. We're animals.

We have thumbs, too, though! And so do chimps. But some humans are about on the same intellectual level as chimps.

did you guys know dogs will follow your finger if you point at something, but chimps won't even do it?

lt was the test that was used to see which animals understand that humans have different thoughts than they do.

response:'' no, we didn't know that. Interesting. thanks, weirdo" -_-
