why are you idolizing this guy? he's only a human being. Honestly, I wouldn't give him that much of your time and thoughts since he clearly is sort of flakey and may be messing with you like the other people above said.
and if he is messing with you. The question you should be asking him is why? Is he getting some perverse kick off it because if that's the case, it isn't fair on you to be receiving it. He should go get his kicks elsewhere.
