Not sure where else to post this - but figured I'd let folks know that I went to my first event as an out gay man!

There's an LGBT board games meetup here in NYC, and I figured it'd be a good spot to meet people outside of the whole bar scene. Quite a wonderful group of guys (and some girls, though the guys outnumbered quite substantially - I guess that's to be expected for a board game meetup!)

The group that I was with (there were about 3 groups there were so many of us) played Cards Against Humanity (brought by yours truly, and apparently always a popular one!), Imaginiff (which works well only if you know the other players well - but also fun to play completely randomly!), and one that the organizer made (he's actually a game publisher) that was the most fun I've ever had. He said he'd start a Kickstarter project to get it off the ground, and I hope he does since I think more people should be able to play this awesome game (though 7 people turned out to be a tad too many for it...now we know).

Awesome time with an awesome bunch of guys!

That sounds like so much fun! I've always wanted to go to the LGBT pride parades in our downtown broadway but my mom said it was "Disgusting"

I think there's a difference between a pride parade (at least the NYC one LOL - been there done that!) and playing board games with a bunch of guys

But your mom should let you go if that's what you want to do!

I hate to say it, but that's to be expected at any mixed-gender gay event.

But it sounds like you had a great time. Congratulations!

It's funny at my schools LGBT events it is predominantly women, We have only had one male come to any of the events this year. (excluding myself, the organizer and the organizers BF).

Great! Super step in living out. Gayme day ;-)

At the gay alliance center, its mostly gay men, though a number of lesbian women are officers of the organization. Last week's support meeting -- all men, but moderated by a lesbian woman (actually, I'm not sure that dynamic was so good at all).

Sounds like that'd be cool if you're into board games! I think it'd be way better than just going drinking at bars
