That's interesting. I like random facts, lol. I try not to contribute to Wal-Mart very much for various reasons.
:jawdrop: I always thought Walmart to be a bit out of hand but wowza! These statistics are mind-blowing!
Wal-mart provides me with crap at low prices, so I prefer to pay the least when buying crap. You forgot to mention Wal-mart is basically bound to North America only because Europe, and Asia don't really like it all that much. You forgot to mention all the jobs Wal-mart creates. Did you also mention all the tax money created from Wal-mart's sale to keep your infrastructure one of the best in the world. Without Wal-mart the U.S would be short another fortune 500 company, and less invasive and imperialistic on foreign markets. Is this what you want for 'merica. Because it seems if Wal-mart were Canadian, I would be pretty thankful for the benefit it creates.
There is a documentary about this but i forgot what is called. They show the poor countries that work for WalMart
I can't stand Wal Mart either. I avoid shopping there. I don't mind paying extra as long as my money isn't going to Wal Mart
I'm not a Walmart fan. I remember as a kid, Made in USA was one their big selling point. The would have signs on every isle saying "This product created X american jobs" It is interesting about Bentonville having the highest number of Billionaires per square mile. I have family in north-west Arkansas and make it up there a couple of times a year. There is a lot of money in the Bentonville-Rogers-Springdale area. Besides Walmart you also have Tyson Chicken in that area, and a few other things.
Tyson is another out for bucks company that I am currently ignoring. When I lived in Wisconsin there was a meat packing plant in Jefferson, called Doskosil. Doskosil was a profitable company, gave their workers a decent wage, they had pensions, they had great work ethics. When Tyson bought out the company, Tyson slashed wages, took away their pensions, and did away with seniority the workers went on strike, So they hired illegal (Or undocumented) workers. They totally shafted the workers that were there for years, I haven't bought Tyson's products since. And yes I do recall years ago (Circa 1985-1986) I entered Wal-Mart for the first time. I was impressed. They had red white and blue banners everywhere's in the store to buy American made stuff. Now everything there comes from China. That's what happens when the founder's vision is not shared by those who do not care, and take over. I was lucky enough to take out what I could when I quit my last occupation, the president of that company passed away, and now I hear that is no longer a good place to work.
On the topic of China, remember not to buy their dog treats (or any of their animal products if you ask me). And I'd mention that here, because Wal-Mart happily sells their China made dog treats that are making many dogs sick or causing their death.
Like most huge companies they can claim a benefit to society by employing a large number of 'staff', however, their staff are what makes the company tick over, and when they're paid so badly, but told to be as helpful as possible, it only lines the pockets of already very rich shareholders. Most employees will be working part-time, as that saves employers tax, and so the workers struggle, but have no alternative, and the money made goes to people who couldn't spend it in their lifetime. A solution would be for the wage of the workers to increase, increasing moral across the board, and allowing each member of staff to actually have good food in their own kitchens and to perhaps feel good about where and who they work for. Greed is a horrible thing.
Not to mention all the tax money saved when Walmart's full time employees have to file for Medicaid and food assistance because they receive either none or insufficient benefits ...:rolle:
I have nothing against Walmart I do shop there (infact it is one of my preferred places to shop)...and will continue to do so oh and I hate the term 'Wally-World'
