My computer got a spyware bug and i cant seem to get rid of it my dad is trying to get rid of it but i dont know if that will work, so i am out using my parents computer after they go to bed as i am still hiding in the dreaded "full" closet
Howd you get it? Downloading something? I was watching a video, something to do with haircuts and it told me I needed a MediaTubecCode so I downlaoded it and all these ads popped up, like porn and stuff, So I switched my comp off at wall, turned off the internet and Used windows Defender to remove it, It was called WinVapsup or somthing =/
You can download programs to get rid of that, iam using windows care something, anyway there are free download-sites that provide them, i would post a link but i don't want to sound like a commercial lol.
Wouldn't his parents get suspicious if suddenly, their computer ends up full of software designed to cover someone's internet tracks?
Spywareblaster, adaware, have you tried all these software too? And anti-virus software are good too - they could have detected a piece of a virus/spyware/trojan there, but they might or might not removing them. If they don't, go and search in the Google for the name of the offending piece of software and the removal instructions. edit : Alternatively, you can have a small thumbdrive, load up Mozilla Firefox portable inside the thumbdrive, and if you want to surf in your parents' comp, at least you can use the browser inside the flash drive. If you are done already, pull it out. Most of the time, the histories and the cache are inside the flash drive so no need to worry. But, if you are paranoid, you may want to double check first.
yeah i always do that because i dont want them to know without me telling them and i delete the history of my user name if they do get to this site and i never save my password
Programs I use: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/3000-8022_4-10045910.html
Just to be on the safe side, a program I use to clear my internet history and temporary files is CleanUp! (http://www.stevengould.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=29&Itemid=70).
