Well, for those of you who have not yet heard of Facebook Graph search, it's a new addition to the website that is currently in Beta testing. Having this app will make it easier for you to search through people's data, but could also be potentially creepy.
Assuming this tumblr is correct, it will even let you search for "Men who like men in my area" and will list men in your area who have that listed on facebook.
    Actual Facebook Graph Searches

I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion is on Graph Search.

I wouldn't say I am "against" it, but it does make me like Facebook even less then I already do :/

"Mothers of Jews who like Bacon"

You know we're all looking for people like that.

  5. If you don't want people to know it, don't put it on the net. That's always been a thing folks.

I think its more about it becoming the next Craigslist though. It would make it easier for people to spam random individuals in search for relationships or hookups or to vent hate speech at random open LGBT people around them.

This happens enough without basically a site-wide "google" for members.

  8. If this does happen, there will VERY likely be a privacy setting that provides an opt-out for the feature. Of course I worry about people getting creeped on and harassed, and I hate having to say "be careful" when, in a perfect world, we shouldnt have to be, but ...y'know, be careful everybody.

There is no opt-out feature. Once you're in, you can never leave.

Yeah, I do agree. I was mainly just wondering.......why? You know. It really doesnt seem necessary for the site.

But shut up, Gen. You dont even have a Facebook! :/

I mean, if you don't want people to know you are one of the "Mothers of Jews who like Bacon" don't put it on Facebook.

I will probably never use it, but some people will (whether creepy or not). Facebook has to add new features to compete with other websites -- I know the amount of time I spend on it has gone down significantly because it's just no fun anymore.

    My vote is: meh...
