So I get another day of my weekend because school is cancelled. First time they ever "pre" cancelled school in my life time and only the 4th time in my life school has ever been cancelled due to weather. This blizzard is supposedly really dangerous...

How often do y'all get school cancelled due to weather?

It snows a lot where I live, so we usually don't get snow days. However, last Wednesday we had our first snow day! It was very exciting!

Where I live currently, snow removal is very efficient, so in most cases, school doesn't get cancelled. When I was in grad school, though, the university had its very first full snow day in my first year there. Schools in the area and all across the state were closed during the massive storm that dumped about a foot of snow here in December of '12.

Not once. Weather in NZ ranges from mildly wet to a bit too warm to be comfortable.

Although in about mid-2011 I was driving out of the university carpark, when a bunch of people were running and looking behind them. I didn't know what was happening until I saw in my mirror a small tornado pass through the carpark I was just in. It crossed the road and killed someone, but I didn't see that until it was on the news.
They didn't close the university though!

The day we see snow here, it'll be a miracle!
(Unless if you go up to the mountains of course.)

We don't plan on snow days. Just lots and lots of rain.

Actually, it's been really mild in Denver this winter. This was our first significant snowfall of the season. Looks like we got about eight or nine inches, and it's not quite done yet.

And no, I didn't get a snow day. I'm at work right now.

Montreal gets its share of blizzards and usually about one or two snow days a year, sometimes more, sometimes less, snow removal here is pretty efficient...

We never get snow days here, we're in the snowy part of the prairies. There has only been one snow day in 30 years, that was because of the 2006 blizzard.

There hasn't been a snow day at my school in two years. It snows, but mainly in the mountains, so there never is so much that they have to cancel. The last time they cancelled school, it was really windy and there was a huge fire near the school.

Seattle get's a bit of school days off due to snow and black ice especially since i live in rainier valley so it's surrounded by hills so when there's ice or even small amounts of snow they close schools since a lot of schools are on top of hills

Up here, we generally get two or three days off each winter.

I love winter weather. The only thing that I don't like is ice storms. We just had one of those here on Friday. Other than that, I love winter weather. I'm slightly sad that the snow has been less since I moved here to northern Ohio.

There was like 1/8th of an inch of ice on the sidewalks one morning, and all classes were canceled until 10:30. Woop, I had 3 day weekend because I only had a 9am. Granted, I still woke up early and got prepared to leave before I saw the email ^.^

But I don't get many days off, and I don't want days off. When Sandy came through we had a couple of days off (and there was no damage where I am...), but make up days were added and the final period extended.

We're more likely to get cancelled because of a thaw and freeze than for snow.

A 'snow day' in Florida doesn't exist. However, when I was in school, we were out of school for a week straight due to a hurricane. The hurricane came and left within hours, but the damage, flooding and other contributing factors kept us all off the streets for 5 days.

I've yet to be told I couldn't come into work due to bad weather. Then again, I think Walmart probably doubles as a shelter knowing them...so I'd just pop open a soda and a bag of Doritos and watch Finding Nemo on a big screen, while sitting in a bean bag chair.

The Panhadle and northern Texas get a decent amount of winter weather. The Panhandle (which has just as much in common with Kansas as Texas) is prone to blizzards that drop several inches of dry snow, causing a powdery slickness on the roads and white outs. Places like Dallas can have really dangerous snow/ice storms like what happened when they hosted the Super Bowl a couple years ago.
