Ive been hearing that phrase since forever, meaning that its something you cant trust. Like, you know, that guys a shady character.

  5. The first I heard it being used regularly was in the gay scene.

I guess you must be too young to remember Eminem's heyday, then.

No it is impossible for straight people to say "shady" - if they somehow manage to force the word out they immediately turn homosexual; if they only get the first syllable out they become bisexual.

  8. Oh yea, Slim Shady! :eusa_doh:

That's not what I meant. I wasn't asking if they were capable of using the word. I was wondering if it's something they say.

My sister and I say it all the time, and she`s straight. As far as I knew, it`s a common word. At least I`ve read it enough times and heard it said in movies several times. So, I am surprised to hear that it`s used a lot in the gay scene.

Nope, the slang is "sketch" or "sketchy" in my region.

As in, "Watch out if you go to that club, it's in a sketch part of town."

^ Yeah, I hear sketchy more than shady, but they have pretty much the same meaning. I say sketchy more.
