A few days ago I advertised for a violin tutor on a website (don't worry, its a safe one, my teacher gave me the link.) and In the one day its been on, I've had two responses. "Great!" you might think.. But, im not so sure how creditable they look =/ So, I shall come to you for advice. What do you think of these responses?

They seem suspicious. Have you tried asking your teacher, the one who referred you to the site?

Its a tuition website for the whole of Oxford, so she's not going to know about violin's (since she works as a french tutor outside of school aswell).

Hmm.. I may just wait and see if I get anymore responses.

The first one looks more iffy than the second one to me. The second one is just asking you to contact him wich is fair enough (somehow you have to make contact).

Have the teacher come to your home, when someone else is there. If after a few lessons you and your parents feel you can trust him/her then maybe consider going to them if it's cheaper.

If you are worried about your safety I would suggest that a female teacher may be more suitable.

There's nothing wrong with going to their house as long as a parent takes you and is there with you the whole time. Especially for the first few weeks.

Oh lord, the over protective cop inside of me says run from the first one. (or get a LOT more information, and don't go alone.)

the second one just seems like a simple post, asking you to contact them if still interested and have not found anyone else.
