This Sunday is St Patricks Day, and I don't know about everyone else but I am really excited for it! I'm English but all of my great grandparents were Irish and despite never having been to Ireland, I have always had a fondness for everything Irish! So this Sunday I will be celebrating in style. I know in England, people who aren't even remotely Irish also take great pride in celebrating. I'm just wondering if people from other parts of the world celebrate St Patricks Day, and if so what will you be doing? And of course I'd also love to know what the Irish people on here will be doing to celebrate?
In Canada people just get sloshed every St.Patricks Day. I can not take part this year though, I have a midterm the next day at 10 am. :/
Just going down the Pub & downing some of the black stuff, there will be some live entertainment on, not to sure what they will be like Lol Lá Fhéile Phádraig Shona Duit! Sláinte
It's basically just a drinking holiday. I bought a six pack of Irish Red beer last week, to go with the couple bottles of Guinness stout I've had in my beer fridge for a while. I normally don't have more than one beer in a day, but I'm going to have two or three on St. Patrick's Day.
To us Irish, drinking is a pass time Lol if that was the case, life would be one big holiday for me :roflmao:
My Irish professor goes folk dancing one day out of every year around St. Patty's and so she cancelled Friday's class. :eusa_danc
if I want to embaress myself in public by throwing up on myself, I will just read a stephenie meyer novel on a park bench.
everyone goes the irish pubs and get on the piss!!!! they have the meanest deals on drinks at the bar so you either "GO HaARD!!! or GO HOME"
I drink guinness and get pissed. I also like singing very loudly to irish folk music. My husband used to sing Irish folk in the pubs around Oxford, so I know a lot of Irish folk songs. I also love Guinness.
Guinness didn't work too well the year before last, and I'm more of a hard liquor person. Jameson? Since I did nothing last year I'm pretty sure for me it's "St. Patrick's Weekend" rather than just one day ; ) Singing very loudly to Irish music started yesterday.
I like the idea of "St Patrick's Weekend". And Jamesons is a good idea! I'm starting my St Patrick's Weekend tonight .
My (Irish) flatmate started at 3pm this afternoon. I just came back from Maths to find his group are already fucked, wahey!
I'm going out with some gay friends from work and we're going to one of our city's gay nightclubs! I'm so excited!! There's going to be so many hot lesbians everywhere!
I'm not Irish, but I will definitely be enjoying the revelry with some good old friends! The first for many of us who just turned of legal drinking age here in the US
The only Irish whiskey I have in my liquor cabinet is Bushmills. I should get some Jameson, though. Any Bushmills drinkers here?
Well St Patrick's day is my birthday so I usually get together with some friends in an Irish bar somewhere and I get to laugh at their drunken antics (I don't really drink any more). However the bf is being secretive about what we're doing, so it could be that something different is being planned. Exciting!
I read your post about St. Pat's Day. Live in Chicago, go to your Mom's for corned beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread, Baileys with coffee. Man, it just doesn't get any better than that. Almost brought a tear to my eye (really!) That's me a few decades ago. I can still taste that home made soda bread. Relish it. You'll remember these events for the rest of your life and tho older you get the more you appreciate and cherish them. Give your Mom a hug for me.
