I was just talking to a few friends about Kanye West, and it seems some people don't like him? The most common thing I've heard is that he's "cocky", but honestly isn't every rapper to some extent? I personally like his music, and the fact he doesn't have some anti-gay slur in every line.

What do you think about him? :icon_bigg

He's a good rapper, but what he did to Taylor Swift is unforgivable!

I can't stand him or his music. He is cocky, but it's not just that. He doesn't seem like an overall great person. Of course I don't care for rap in particular anyways..

I like him, yeah. I got into him when College Drop Out came out a lot because he samples a lot of really great music in his raps. All Falls Down is one of my favorites, almost as much as I like Lauryn Hill's original The Mystery of Iniquity.

I have to admit, and this is going to sound so horrible and mean, but I started liking him even more after the whole Taylor Swift thing.

And if everybody does it, that must mean it's Ok!

Who victimized poor Taylor Swift this time and did she write a Top 40 song about her victimhood? Maybe condemned her verbal assailants to hell?

He has made some very good music ("All of the Lights" is my jam). He can be cocky, sure, but he has the talent to back it up. And as for what he did to Taylor Swift, as long as Chris Brown still has a career after what he did to Rihanna, I'll always be too consumed with my hatred for that talentless little piece of shit to have any hatred for Kanye.

Kanye is extremely talented. Like Owen said, he's very cocky, but I think he's earned the right to be.

He is too full of himself. Thinks he's all that when he's not.
I just like him in "Stronger" and "ET" that's about it.

I agree with this. He is in my top 3 of Mainstream rappers but most of my favorites from him are his older stuff("Jesus Walks", "Sierra Leone", "Stronger", "Heartless", "Runaway", "Power" and "When It All Falls Down"). He is arrogant but he's good at what he does and knows it so I don't get why it gets to people so much. And I find it astounding for how arrogant he is, there is never(to my knowledge) a stream of news threads reading "Kanye West Involved in Bar Brawl" but meh.

I LOVE Kanye West. I don't know if I'd be his friend...but his persona is great to me. I've wanted to get to a point in my life where I know I'm the best because I think so, and I don't care what anyone else says. He's been there for a while lol.

Plus I really like his music. I have favorite songs on every album, and I love how he evolves with each album - maybe it's not always for the best, but he seems to me like any person getting older and figuring out their place in the world, except for him he's dealing with his own fame and hubris.

I'll stop now before I start writing an essay on his role in popular culture.

Plus that Taylor Swift thing was hilarious - and in the end it only helped her out.
