I was a repressed homosexual for many many years. I just identified as straight. Did not know I was gay until Thursday, after a year of soul-searching. The reason I ultimately knew: I was holding tension in my lower stomach and genitals for many years to prevent the thoughts of being gay. Only with the help of my therapist did I get to the bottom of this. Also, I was into weird ass porn, in order to avoid the fetishes. I saw a stand-up comedian with a divorce and a failed relationship, walking around with the tension in that area, talking about weird stuff (won't get into details here). Maybe he's a repressed homosexual (not that I'm one to judge). But seeing these things in myself, do you guys think a much larger chunk of the population might be repressed than people admit, even going by the 10% figure? And then there are totally smooth guys, like Jay-Z or someone, who seem like they don't cover anything up. And I come to the conclusion, that once people become comfortable with themselves, they can open up and be as successful as they want, because they aren't holding anything back. Kind of like when since I came out, my piano playing took on the dimension I've been unsuccessfully trying to give it for years. So do you think there are more homosexuals than we think? Or at least people falling farther and farther away from Kinsey 0, which I think is limited to a small number of population anyway?
Definitely. Can't exactly say how many but definitely because the idea that there aren't average joe-gays, sportsy gays, mechanicy(lol)gays and so and so forth is just ludicrous. I can't really say how many but when you think about it, it's really sad how some find their way and other's don't ya know. I can only imagine the hell their mind goes through with the thought of being gay especially if all their lives they "did things the other boys do" and have no idea how to make that bridge itself with "doing the other boys." Or even worse, being "done" by the other boys.
It seems like we've seen a lot of evidence that the most vehemently anti-gay people out there are the biggest nelly bottoms. (Ted Haggard, George Rekers, Larry Craig, and some have said Fred Phelps from Westboro) So if we look at the number of people with really venomous hatred and say they're closet poofs... that's an awful lot of people. And there are probably many others who are as gay as Liberace but live a quiet, closeted life. My guess is a *whole* lot of people.
