I find this cracker with a weird expiration date and I can't decipher it from my googling skill.. the numbers left to right reads 37071... and the format is supposed to be M D Y. I tried reading it backward, 17073, or even add 1991 to two of the numbers and I can't figure out what it is :/
well, it is printed with those special ink for expiration dates, you know? and the code is in the bigger box lol
i have to agree, that number probably means something else. are expiry dates required on taiwanese food products? not all places print dates on things.
My first thought was that it might be a Julian date. Are there any other numbers on the package. My thinking is that is most likely the lot number.
the crackers came in those big box with packages inside... the box says expiration date is on teh box.. i looked all over, even on the little packets. NO FUCKING DATE. except those random numbers..
lol wait, if they bother to print the message that the exp date is on the box, why wouldn't they put it right after that message????! that is weird. maybe it isn't printed in ink? sometimes it's pressed on instead of printed. or maybe the ink is blending into a similarly colored area of the box? like if there's a white area of the box and it's printed with white ink? if it helps you feel better, most expiry dates are printed because they're required, not because they actually mean anything. in the case of crackers, i can't think of a reason why they'd make you sick or anything. as long as they don't taste gross and stale they're probably just fine.
lol, okay thanks. part of me was thinking those digits is actually the date lol. and i need like university level mathematics to crack it, but nevermind! xD
Maybe they revised their approach after designing the box. Maybe the new way is no date. The only way to test the expiration date is to eat the contents, and if you expire, well, the date has come and gone! More seriously, something might have happened to corrupt the date--malfunction of the stamping machine, whatever. I've noticed problems with such dates on even US products.
