I just recently started using hair styling stuff and I have a tube of AG pomade but I don't know if I like it so much. I want something that can hold a little better and also doesn't look like I am using something as much. What do you guys use?

I know this is off topic, but I work at a place that makes hair products & now I can't be around them without getting sick.

In terms of actual products, I can't help you there. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I use Murray's pomade, which holds like you wouldn't believe. If you just use a smallish amount, it won't be as obvious that you are using a product. The only downside is that its nearly impossible to wash out. You have to use grease cutting dish soap

I don't recommend any type of gel. They make you look like you just washed your hair, they don't hold as well as pomade (depending on the texture/length of your hair), and some of them flake throughout the day.

I agree with the pomade. I use American Crew. They have different "hold" levels. I use a lighter hold since I don't want to look like my hair is stuck together and wet. But I guess it depends on your own hair. And it smells good.

I have about 4 different hair holding products, and they all hold in a different way depending on what shape or texture I want to have will determine what one I use, the best one (as in strongest hold and texture) would be the BED HEAD manipulator. it is so versatile and it does not go rock hard so you can have a quick change in hair style if you want to. It smells amazing and washed out quickly, if you ever find it I would defiantly get it hear in the UK its about £10 per pot. (I have been through meany holding products and the only one I will buy again when it runs out is this one.):icon_bigg

Aquage Transforming Paste is the best stuff I've ever tried. My hair is short, it's fully dry when I apply it and I finish with a light shot of spritz. It does not look wet, it has a nice hold and it rinses/washes out easily. Although it says paste I'd describe it more like a thick, tacky lotion. I think it's spendy, but you don't need much and haven't found anything better. I've used it daily for 13 years. Call around to local independent salons to see if they carry it. Maybe a salon would let you try a dab of it or if you get your hair cut they would use some on you so you know whether you like it. If you do try it I hope you like it.
