What do you think about patriotism, are you patriotic, and what are the limits of your patriotism?

I'm only really patriotic when it comes to international sporting events. Apart from that, I think patriotism is silly.

I think I'm moderately patriotic. I love my country. I love NY. I love Washington. I don't find anything wrong with loving your country or even being bat-shit crazy obsessed with your country.

  9. Not patriotic.

I think it depends on where you are. I live in the south, where people tend to be VERY patriotic.

It's a dangerous concept, especially when combined with ethnocetrism, militarism, nationalism. Speaking generally, of course, and only of extreme cases.

    Slightly patriotic, maybe.

I have some patriotism. The thing is that my cultural history has made my opinion of America rather skewed toward a negative light. I'm fine with others having it though; just as long they do not attempt to enforce their ideas of patriotism on me. Having someone tell me that I'm not American because I won't belt out the pledge of allegiance while honoring the flag just pisses me off.

I dislike patriotism. It creates meaningless divisions between people and can hide their country's issues. That said, I actually do feel some connection to my home state, even if I'm not that fond of the US as a whole.
