Don't worry, I'm not gonna post any personal information So, I like Tumblr. A lot. I check it often for funny things, or whatever. But I don't really get how you're supposed to use it?
Just as a blog. You reblog what you like, make your own posts, respond to people? Some go for a theme but if it's just for you, you do what you want. What don't you understand?
I mostly just use it to reblog game gifs and text posts that make me laugh, and talk with my friends via text posts. I don't really think there's any intended use for it. You just reblog things you like.
It helps if you have a friend that's already on Tumblr so they can show you the ropes. It takes a little while to fully get used to it (took me about 2-3 months), but it's really fun once you start. Not to mention all the awesome people you can meet on there.
I don't know anyone who uses it but I'll give it a try, thanks Is tumblr anonymous? Like, I can hide my identity on there right?
Not. I've never seen the point, or the fun, of tumblr and I don't think I ever will. I guess I'll keep reading this thread to see if this can change my mind.
You follow people that have stuff you like and reblog their stuff. You look through tags of stuff you like and reblog that stuff. What your blog is about is up to you. Tumblr has blogs anywhere from hipster to fandom to e-diary to social justice to combinations of them. You can also have multiple themed blogs if you don't want an everything-goes blog. To start following people, I'd suggest looking through tags of stuff you like. Follow some people who post those things, make some posts and tag them, and eventually people will visit your blog and follow you. ---------- Post added 16th Apr 2013 at 02:24 PM ---------- Personally, I use my tumblr blogs to... Have a good laugh for a study break Fangirl about shows, books, and movies I watch Squeal over cute cats Complain about my life and feel like people care when they read and press 'like' Learn about privilege and oppression Debunk bigoted posts
I use my tumblr to post whatever comes to my mind. Sometimes it's geeky stuff, sometimes it's funny stuff, and other times it's just thoughts that are too long to fit in a Tweet. I certainly enjoy tumblr but it's not for everyone.
I have to say I had the same attitude when I thought it was all rehashed memes, hipsters and teenagers reposting gay photomanips of their OTPs. But there are a lot of blogs that span a lot of different interests. If you're really in to something, there's probably a blog for it. I follow a lot of wildlife blogs, it's like National Geographic on my dash ...interspersed with porn. sans the subscription price!
I use it to connect with people who have similar interests. I've met some really great people there and really come to understand some people I know in real life that I've traded URLs with. The environment can be toxic at times, but if you're careful about what blogs you follow you'll have an infinite source of conversation, entertainment, and/or inspiration.
So...does anyone know of any good LGBT tumblr pages? Any supportive/loving type pages? No porn. Also, after a few days of using tumblr more often this > is definitely true. If anyone wants to share their personal tumblr with me, you can private message me and I'll share mine with you.
It's one of the most complicated mechanisms in the history of mankind. I also have an account but it's just so harddd to use. So usually, I just use it to stalk/follow celebrities and the things that interest me.
