This guy must have missed the "always assume the mic is on" lesson... really though, this has to be one of the worst first (and last) day on the job... (I can't get the video to work.. so it's in the link...)
Oh god, I feel so bad for him. He thinks nobody can hear him, yet there he is... On air. On a semi-related note, could you imagine what would happen if you and everybody else could hear the other person on a phone 5 seconds after hanging up?
In a similar vein, I used to make business-related phonecalls where I'd put people on hold, but it really only muted my microphone. So they thought they were on hold... and some of the stuff they said when they thought I couldn't hear them was pretty hilarious, and sometimes really damaging to their side of the negotiations we were doing. Frequently when you're calling a customer service call center and they tell you you're on hold... they can still hear you. Always keep that in mind.
