Which sections on EC do you check first? - Empty Closets - A safe online community for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered people coming out

... and generally what order do you check the sections here when you visit? Are there some you seldom bother checking?

Or do you go straight for the New Posts link?

Any particular reasons why you do it this way?

I generally start at the bottom and work upwards. The Staff Room (which normal members can't see) is at the bottom which is the first thing I check, then EC Help and Feedback, then Anonymous, then the other support sections, then I welcome any new members who have introduced themselves, and if I still have some time I check Chit Chat, Fun and Games etc.

Often of course I have to back-track if there is new posts, especially stuff in the Staff Room.

My reasons.... I am going through them in what I consider to be priority order, the most important first.

Support and advice followed by Fun and games.

Support because I feel I can help
Fun and games coz I get bored

Don't do technology, I know NOTHING
Don't do entertainement, I know NOTHING

No particular order, I just click on random sections, have a look and then continue on. No reason for this, just the way i've always done it

I do them from top to bottom. don't know why, it just seems more logical to me to do it that way.

Mainly Chit Chat unless my email has Post Reports in it. I then usually check mod forums and then support forums. Once i've done that i go and have fun in the games forum.

Sometimes I go into Introductions - but I usually find I've run out of time by then (I try and read the support sections carefully), so sorry if I miss people's intros! Not intentional - just lots of non-EC stuff to do!! Sometimes I don't go into Chit Chat. I rarely (if ever?) go into the fun forums because I don't really have time - not that I don't want to socialise with you guys!

But if I'm in a hurry I will only go to the Support and Advice section (where I spend most of my time alongside Coming Out) and maybe the Anon section.

It's interesting, I always instinctively check EC in the same way, I skimread chitchat, start at the bottom of the page then move up, hence why I ended up here.

Then I start properly reading posts, I go to support&advice, coming out, anonymous, entertainment, by then I've usually ran out of time and have to go. Occasionally I go to Fun & Games, very occasionally, and I'm sorry to admit I very rarely visit the welcome pages, I really know I should but it's hard to start leaving welcome messages especially when I'm aware I might not be on the forum again for a while.

When I first come in if I see any attractive thread on the new posts links I start from there.
Afterwards I go to the sections page :P whatever that's called

Then I generally check chit chat, then fun and games, then support and advice (sometimes) introductions and etc and sometimes coming out stories.

To me, it makes the most sense to go in linear order from Chit Chat to the Anonymous section.

Generally, I'll check for:

1. new threads
2. threads I've replied to
3. threads that I can add to

in Support and Advice, Health and Well-being, and Anonymous Discussions.

After that, I'll usually check out the Chit Chat threads. If time allows, I'll look at Entertainment and Technology. I'll look at the other forums usually only if something jumps out at me.

I go down the list from chit chat, most of the time I wont go into Feedback and I never go into fun and games.

Support sections should be at the top imo.
