Yesterday, I was talking about cross-dressing (I'm playing a comical transvestite part in a school play) with my friend, and she said that it was weird for my (straight, guy) friend to do it, but not for me because I'm gay, and "gay guys are naturally girly anyway". She meant no harm, but I expect that's what a lot of people will think of me as; an effeminate malfunction (I'm not effeminate, but I think effeminacy is perfectly fine for a guy). So, what are some annoying/offensive little remarks people have said? (not in malice)

I'm getting a bit sick of jibes about anal sex. My family doesn't know I'm gay and if there's something about a gay couple on tv there will probably be a jibe (not malicious) about anal sex.

I don't get it. Straight couple have sex. Why can't gay couples have sex without it becoming the butt of all jokes (PUN INTENDED)!

Being introduced as my GF's 'friend', or her being introduced as mine. I'm still not completely out, but when this happens it makes me retract so much further back into my shell. Or closet.

"But...you're too pretty to be gay. What a waste... " something like that.

I've tried to take this as a compliment at SOME point but...

    Why.can't.they.just.understand.

  8. "Legalising same-sex marriage is a slippery slope to bestiality" - or something with similar semantics.

No. That is a logical fallacy and a poor argumentative technique.

There's a really pretty lesbian barmaid in a pub I occasionally go to with my friends and I've heard a few of them remark "She's a lesbian?... What a waste!"

The worst I hear all the time is: "I never said I didnt (fill in here)"

Example: Person A (me) So you dont love me?.....Person B I never said I didnt love you.

ALL THE DAMN TIME FROM MY BEST FRIEND!

Any use of the Bible claim that homosexuals are an abomination.

I have received way too many comments about being "too girly to be lesbian" which is just really, really?

It's like their observations give them the right to define me.

Let me wear my dress and love my women, honestly.

Not really LGBT-related, but anyone who says "I could care less." Do they mean to say they care a greater amount than zero care units? If somebody doesn't care at all, they mean "I couldn't care less."

I feel like a snob if I were ever to correct people on this and other misused figures of speech, but how can I go about letting people close to me talk like idiots? :S

Lots of people repeat generalize things they hear and never spend the time to actually find their own point of view unless challenged to do so.

It used to annoy me when people'd say 'You listen to that song? Dude, that's so gay'. I think it was mostly because I was in denial - I don't think I'd mind it as much now.

But still, what an incredibly moronic concept. I'd like to know WHO came up with it and what exactly was the thought process behind it. If there was one, I mean.

"Which one is the husband? Oh oh- She's definately the man!" Courtesy of my parents -.-

The point of a lesbian relationship is that ther is no man/husband. Whether or not there is a butch does not matter, they are both women.

Or, "But you act like a butch!"
No- I act like myself. I hate it when people try to categorize me as a butch. I just point to my skirt/make up/ cleavage and sputter angrily. XD
