    Quick question(s) for the community here. What languages do you speak fluently and which ones do you wish to learn?

    Me:
    English, Spanish, French (fluent)
    Portuguese, Italian (proficient)

    I want to learn: Polish, German, Catalan, Dutch, Galician, and Greek as well.

    what about you guys?

    I speak English. I can get by in French if I had to, but I'm far from fluent (and probably not well-versed conversationally).

    I'd love to learn Korean and Portuguese (and French better). Perhaps German too. But if we're being honest, I don't think I have the motivation to actually go and learn them :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    English - Fluent
    Spanish - More or less fluent
    French - Intermediate level
    Irish - Intermediate level

    I want to finish learning French and move on to German soon enough. I had started learning Mandarin but gave up, it's far too time consuming.

    I see that you live in Ontario. You could go to all the cool clubs, nightlife, and crap that they have in Montréal in that province next to yours, haha. :icon_bigg

    English (fluent), Spanish (fluent), French (un peu)

    I want to learn another Romance language like Portuguese or Italian, increase my proficiency in French, and maybe try to learn a non-Latin alphabet language like Japanese or Arabic. Although this seems unlikely, except the part of becoming proficient in French, because I don't have as much time to dedicate to this now.

    El problema que he visto es que se puede mezclar algunos conceptos en los idiomas que parecen similar. Embaraçada no significa embarazada en español jajajaja. :wink:

    Sí, odio los 'amigos falsos'. Mi compañera de piso nunca va a dejarme olvidar la primera vez que dije "Estoy muy embarazada", ella no pudo parar de reir!

    I want to be able to speak Italian but I really hate learning new languages. Learning English has been difficult enough for me.

    habia el tiempo cuando hablaba con mi amigo venezolano en el telefono...yo dijé "puse".... mientras mis amigos anglofonos estuvieron allí :lol: nooo...

    Entiendo. Aprendí español e inglés con fluidez para cuando estuve en la escuela primaria y luego aprendí francés en la segundaria. Mi madre me enseñó español de la manera "correcta" y sufro porque las personas que hablan español aquí en Texas tienen un vocabulario atroz (por ejemplo, dicen "troca" en lugar de "camioneta"). Los que tienen este problema son usualmente los que no tuvieron educación formal en español y se confunden por homónimos (por ejemplo, dicen "carpeta" en lugar de "alfombra," porque la palabra "alfombra" en inglés es "carpet." Mi único problema es que toda mi educación seglar ha sido en inglés; por lo que hay muchos conceptos técnicos que no puedo traducir instantáneamente.

    Yo vivo en Sevilla y casi nadie habla de la manera correcta aquí. Pero los españoles podrían decir lo mismo sobre la mayoría de los anglohablantes.

    Haha. Supongo que me cuesta admitir que los significados de las palabras evolucionan. La "era de la información" y los medios sociales no han ayudado tampoco.

    Tengo un amigo malagueño que habla como él tiene un pomelo en su boca. Puedo decir sin duda que tenía miedo la primera vez que le he conocido jejejejeje. (de paso, puedo entender todos los acento) por lo tanto no es ningun problema.

    Fluent in English, obviously.
    Near fluent in Spanish
    Intermediate in Russian.

    I need to spend more time speaking Spanish and Russian, I can tell I'm starting to forget stuff. I'd like to learn Italinan and German someday.

    Go to Puerto Rico! Obvious reasons:
    1. They have Ricky Martin. 2. They have Ricky Martin. 2. No passport needed. 3. It's a beautiful place! 4. Great food. 5. Puerto Ricans have a harder accent= you'll understand all the other Spanish speakers hehehe!!

    Sí, el acento andaluz es muy fuerte. Cuando yo llegué aquí, no podía entender nada! Pero ahora cuando hablo español, hablo como los sevillanos!

    Il y a tant d'espagnol dans ce fil/ce thread/cette discussion. :frowning2: Où sont les francophones ?! Et quelqu'un a commencé cette même discussion il y a quelques semaines... des fils à propos des langues m'agacent pas, mais peut-être qu'on devrait faire attention. :wink:
