Hey everyone! so i watched a few months ago an interesting documentary about being gay in Uganda, and honestly its very interesting, sad, hopeless and horrifying, i posted it in a thread of someone asking about countries that have laws against homosexuals, so im sorry if i shouldnt make a thread about it or if its already known in here, i just thought it was interesting and i wanted to share not sure if everyone knows, but politicians proposed a law to have harsher punishment for homosexual behavior, such as life imprisionment and death penalty, even to Ugandans that live outside Uganda, so that may be extradited for punishment in Uganda as far as i know the bill was proposed in 2009 by MP David Bahati, and recently the bill is being discussed for approval more information about it here: Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia in the documentary, gay british DJ and television presenter Scott Mills goes to Uganda and interviews the population, gay people that are suffering, and even comes out to David Bahati while interviewing him, which almost gets him arrested Scott Mills in wikipedia: Scott Mills - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've seen this. I wish I could help all those people... Especially that one girl who was raped and got HIV/AIDS. It's sad to see such a place stricken with poverty to that extreme level.
What's even scarier (to me) is that some people in all seriousness hold Uganda up to be some sort of idealised hotspot for anyone who wishes to live in a country with "traditional morals". There are a lot of terrible places out there, and a lot of laws that make me feel sick to the pit of my stomach, but it's the people who congratulate these countries for their treatment of anyone who strays from the heterosexual path that twists the knife just that little bit more. There is so much work to be done elsewhere, it's heartbreaking.
ive never wanted to cry and hit people so much , apart from when he was being cured with the wet chicken that kind of maid me laugh , thanks for the link i wish there was something i could do
I doubt Uganda and Iran are any different than most Muslim countries. Maybe we should negotiate with them about how they treat gays. It can be put on the list of talking points right under stoning adulterers to death and so called "female circumcision" among other common practices over there. Just don't stand too close while negotiating. One of those compassionate types might have explosives strapped to his chest. And don't forget: no Allah jokes
