Okay today I went to taco hell , yes hell and only bc my blockhead dad insisted ,For an interview i went btw. I know it's b.s like checkers .no breaks , no free food ,little pay but I had no idea employees have sex and do drugs behind the scenes :0 anyone can clue me in where and why ? And how they do it so they don't get caught ??? And my dad insisted working there instead of the bakery bc it's corporate and large :frowning2: hes a blockhead for sure . I don't need my parents for a safety net I'm 19 yrs old for loves sake !!! And in the bakery the owner was nice and polite and said I can come in as many times as I want as an intership under his wing . So any advice ?? Plz ? My friend told me the sex and drugs part but she hasn't seen it . And my ex who is also my best friend confirmed this happens in every place .

Don't you want to be a pastry chef or something similar? Working at a bakery would be a far better steppingstone towards that goal (and a lot better for your general sanity) than working at a fast food chain.

By the sounds of it you've already made up your mind that you'd much prefer to be at the bakery.

I want to be a pastry chef but my dad thinks I should learn retail and how to count fast in my head . My dad supports me but not all the way neither does my mom. And thank u for replying and following my threads

There's zero reason to work in fast food if you have a better alternative, particularly if it's one where you have more interest.

Furthermore, you will learn a *lot* more working at a small locally-owned business than you will working for a franchise fast food restaurant that's part of a large multinational corporation. Completely different mindset about how employees are treated, what sort of responsibilities you're given, and so forth.

Sorry to say it, but your dad is dead wrong on this one.

Additionally, the culture of fast food restaurants in many parts of the country is that they are essentially the "lowest rung" of the ladder as far as employment, and as such, the quality of the people working there, overall, can be problematic. Of course, this isn't always the case, but by and large, nobody aspires to work for Taco Bell, and so... that's reflected in their work ethic. Hence the drugs and sex and more awful things on the job.

Take the bakery job. No question about it. The only things to be gained working at fast food (in comparision to the bakery job) are things that you don't need to know and there are a lot of things going on at many fast food joints that you don't want to be anywhere near

Um...that's like deciding to go on the dark and twisted path of dead trees, fog instead of going on the path with sunshine, fresh air, and greenery. Go to the pastry shop instead!!

Wait, he wants you to learn retail skills at a fast food restaurant? Hmm, now wouldn't working at a retail store be better suited for that?

Anyways, like others have said it probably would be better to work at a bakery. It will make a great stepping stone towards your goals. Plus the experience will be perfect for your resume if you apply for other baking-related jobs.

You need to talk to your dad and tell him, if he's supporting you a little then he should have no reason to hold you back trying at the bakery.

I've been in fast food for over 6 years now, and let me tell you, I've seen a lot of crazy shit. I've heard about people having sex in the freezer or behind the dumpster, smoking weed in the freezer, snorting pills off the toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom, drinking beer behind the dumpster, watching porn on the computer in the office, lots of really awful stuff. I personally would try to work anywhere else beside a fast food place. They're pretty awful, and I've never worked at one where someone doesn't do drugs or hook up with coworkers. I'd go for the bakery, hands down.

Forget Taco Hell. You have a FAR better option in the bakery, corporate names don't give a quarter shit about employee well-being unless it cuts into their profits, and you said already you are uncomfortable with the behind-the-scenes behavior. This case is cut and dry, and being 19, I'd say you're entitled to your own opinion about where to work.

You don't have to worry about getting hired. Just bomb the interview, or turn down the job if it's offered. Your dad doesn't need to know.

You're 19. This is your life. You need to stand up for yourself and do what you want, not what your dad thinks you should do.

If you are even worried about people doing drugs in the restaurant, you'll probably look like freaking Tony Stark compared to the people they normally have working in there. I would strongly profess your desire not to work for them, and respectfully decline if you do have to go to an interview.

Fast food business sucks! I worked at MCDONALD'S for my first job hoping to be independent I didn't need the money I just wanted to be independent anyways, it wa hell that's why I quit! I was sexually harassed I had rumors about me all the time my managers would try to get with me which is not allowed they would lie about having sex with me, people made fun of me there for being gay including the gay ones who said they "did" me. It was terrible. They were rude smelly and had no plans in life. Please don't work in fast food!! I even went to the owner who BTW!!!!! had no issue asking me for $50,000 to keep one of his restaurants open for a month which I asked my parents and they said it was a good investment I don't know film details but now we have a agreement with him anyways after I told him personally about the mangers he told me that he would "talk" with them and It had better stop except he 1. Never talked to them 2. Started ignoring my calls 3. Told me if I didn't like it I should just leave then, so that's what I did. He apologized and did fire the manager but it took so much to get him to do anything! It was assured and horrible to work there. I didn't need the job so I had no issue leavening
