I've noticed that a lot of the really "hot" pics of guys on here, aren't really that person. A quick google image search just proves they stole the picture else where, so in reality for a lot of you, when you think you're talking to a really hot guy, turns out you're not, lol.

They're just displaying that they think that guy is hot :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: They're almost never impersonating them.

I can prove it's me. Let me take my shirt off and show you my gut. If I wanted to pretend to be somebody hot, I definitely wouldn't be posting that.

Given that EC is largely anonymous, people are less likely to post a picture of themselves as their avatar. It's only fake when they actually pretend to be that person, which I don't think many do.

Very few of the icons are actually pictures of the people. This after all an anonymous forum for people who are , save a few, still the closet to some extent.

I, for instance, am in fact not a biorobotinc replicant named Rachel.

Besides, EC isn't the place to be cruising for hot guys.

I take it your Avatar is not you, in front of the TV Worshiping it
If you notice on peoples profiles, some people are not completely out of the closet & some people not at all, therefore it would be foolish to put your own photo as your Avatar, as EC is open to anyone, you might have a friend who you are not out to, or someone who might just know you, who is Gay or just curious & they come across the EC site, now imagine their surprise if they saw your picture on here & then told someone at school or at work, Uh-Oh you have just been Outed

I chose Niall Horan from One Direction as my Avatar, because he is Irish & I think he is quite cool :sunglasses: I would say that 95% of the people on EC know who he is & know that the picture is not me, the other 5% who think it is me, is normally one of the older Members, who think that One Direction, is a another name for a One Way Street :roflmao:

People on here use many things for their Avatars, so there you have it, Mystery solved

I have my avatar something or I guess someone that I love.

I'm not actually a sweet Transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania. Even though that would be awesome haha! (!)

The people with avatars of celebs I've seen are just fans of said celeb. Mine is really me, I'm so vain, I probably think this thread is about me

As other members have already said, many people just display pictures of people they think are cute in their avatars because they wish to remain anonymous during their use of the forum. This is no problem unless they actually are pretending to be that person. If you see a person with a cute avatar, there are a couple ways you can check to see if it is an actual picture of them. You can open their profile to see if they have uploaded any more pictures or you can actually just ask the person themselves whether or not that is them in their avatar.

    Here you go :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

But... I've always wanted to be a snarky teenage wood elf... Are you saying I'm not? *crais*

*ahem* My avatar is anyone and anything I like, here and on other fora; it's understood that I'm not impersonating that character. My profile picture is actually me. (Currently.)

Not everyone feels comfortable releasing their identity. I don't see why you have an issue with that? This isn't a dating site so there really is no need. Just pointing that out.

they do this to catch somebody's attention. to be honest I don't want to talk to someone who only cares about my appearance.

Honestly, anyone at EC who is talking to someone primarily because they think that person is hot... isn't here for the right reasons. As others have eloquently stated, I don't think anyone that pays attention can miss the fact that a large percentage of avatars are objects, cartoons, or things like that and I don't think anyone here thinks they' re speaking to a cartoon
