Apparently in Bavaria, some town elected a 23 year-old student from the SPD who's also gay to be their mayor! http://www.spiegel.de/unispiegel/wunderbar/0,1518,547905,00.html (Sorry, it's in German.) I just thought it was inspiring.
Bavaria. Heard that town in a movie before. And it is inspiring. There's hope for us gays to be out and still partake in politics Edit. Finally got it. Bavaria was the town in the movie Sommersturm (!)
Erm, actually Bavaria is a Bundesland, which is the equivalent to a U.S. State. It's sort of Germany's Texas, if that makes any sense (big, southern (accent, too), populated, loud 'n proud). It's all good, though. The best cars come from Bavaria (BMW [Bayerische Motoren Werke=Bavarian Motor Works] + Audi)! Well, Baden-Württemberg, too (Porsche, Mercedes-Benz).
