Well, they're no where near as goo as my royal family, but I just plain don't give a damn about them. They have no power, they the United Kingdom's fish, swimming in a fish tank on Tony Blair's desk. Mere living decorations.

Iraq today! It used to be part of my kingdom, Ērān as we inhabitants call it, Persia as you outsiders would have called it. Ērān became the basis of Iran, but then Khalid ibn Walid and his moslems invaded a decade or so after my death and eventually it stopped being part of my great Ērān (thanks to that little boy king Yazdegerd III).

But yes, Ctesiphon. Currently it's in the middle of no where in Iraq, but I like the word Ctesiphon better than "Sandy sand no man's land."

OK to bring in tourism, but I am not a Royalist, but then again I am a Irish Citizen not a British Subject, what did you expect :roflmao:

But I must admit, I had a soft spot for Princess Diana, she was not only a rebel & a thorn in the establishments side, but she was compassionate & caring

A few Americans pay attention to what is going on with them, and more than a few Americans watched the royal weddings, since we don't have anything like that. However, most Americans don't follow the British royals much, if at all.

Why do you think I was so quick to run off to Dublin (!)(!)(!)(!)

Michael D. Higgins looks a heck of a lot more bearable than Charles will be, at least he lives on planet Earth, and you know is elected

I think the BRF is fascinating. I find the institution of monarchy interesting, especially with regard to how each royal family has adapted to modern times.

Personally I couldn't care less about them, they are over hyped. The Royal wedding was really annoying and so was the Queens birthday thing. There good for tourism, but they are an unimportant and outdated tradition. Im surprised that the likes of Canada and Australia still view the queen as their queen and head of state, I wonder how long this will last for.

I'm a monarchist, but I don't have particular respect for my royal family. I just don't trust politicians enough to be head of state, not to mention a president would demand more pay and privileges than the governor-general. I disagree with republicanism because it is used by politicians trying to increase the power of political parties.

I'm completely indifferent about them. I would much rather have Queen Elizabeth than President Cameron and Vice-President Clegg. Those two really don't need more power to feed into their ego.

Inherited privilege and power like that is awful.

However the current members of the British monarchy have all been very philanthropic and have done a lot of good in the world, for the most part. So while I don't like how they have been given the ability to do what they do, I certainly don't want that power taken away from them now that they have it.

My teachers are always complimenting the royal family and I always feel like demanding an explanation as to why I should grovel to someone just because of what family they're born into. What did they do to deserve royalty in the first place? What makes them better than me?? Nothing!! They're as ordinary as I am.

As a way of bringing in the tourists and a means of employment for quite a few people, hurrah. The royal family bring a lot of work to my mothers place of employment, and without them the orders would drop considerably.

But personally I tend to think they're just a ceremonial piece we deploy every now and then.

I would like to be the Queen of England but I don't think they'll have me
