About once a day I try to make time to listen to Carmen by Bizet. Beautiful. Touches me to the core.

    Instrumental, basically:

The entire section between 3:01 and 4:48 might be one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. The keyboard chords and vocal samples are HEAVENLY.

This comes close to being as perfect. A wonderful mixture between classical music and techno of sorts (controversially):

My personal favorites are cello rock, wind symphony music, and video game soundtrack.

Cello rock features single cellist or a group of cellists. The style ranges from mellow and vaguely minimalist (Zoe Keating and Julia Kent), which doesn't really sound like rock, to Metallica-like (Apocalyptica). Example: Pleiades by Julia Kent

Wind symphony music is basically "modern" (i.e. last 100 years or so) orchestral music without the strings. Think of the music typically played by school bands. Composers include Frank Ticheli, Eric Whitacre, Steven Bryant, and Samuel Hazo. Examples: Bloom by Steven Bryant and Arabesque by Samuel Hazo

Lastly, there's video game soundtrack. Much of it is heavily inspired by Western classical and traditional Japanese music. Example: Passion from Kingdom Hearts 2, originally by Hikaru Utada and arranged by Yoko Shimumura

If any of these genres sound interesting, I can provide more recommendations.

YES. Love her! If you want something more intense, I suggest Two Steps From Hell. I feel like I'm in an intense battle scene every time I hear them!
