I have known about the mantis shrimp since I was 7, which I guess means I should wear hipster glasses. Keep in mind I watched National Geographic channel as a young child.

That's awesome. I love National Geographic. I also like watching Nature on PBS. There was this great episode the other day about humming birds.

I don't really watch TV anymore, but I when I do actually watch TV, it is normally because there is a Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon on BBC America -_-

It doesn't mention how mantis shrimps will infiltrate aquariums by hiding in the rocks that are used to decorate them, and then slowly (well, not that slowly) kill off and eat every other animal in the tank without anyone realising it's in there.

Yes, I heard about the color receptor thing. I can't conceive of what other colors might look like. So strange. In a good way.

They do have the credentials for being favorite animals don't they?

A great mascot for LGBT in general I think. Beautiful creature, more spectacular in ways it's hard to imagine but also a lot more badass than people might think.

So some can be bright and flaunt their individuality yet others can be more reserved and less obviously amazing but they're still both awesome to the core? Yep, the LGBT has it's new mascot! It's perfect!

I really think they're the most awesome animal ever. They're just crazy and amazing. I'd love to have all those sets of cones in my eyes so I could see all those colors.
