    Would you do this?
I personally wouldn't because even though I try not to judge people who do, I want my boyfriend to be following the law.

I wouldn't, because I generally disapprove of smoking.

I said never, but I don't particularly care for the "law-abiding" part. I don't like being around people when they're doing drugs, whether those drugs are marijuana, tobacco, or even alcohol. I also don't want to have to worry about my partner's health.

I voted never. If I were ever caught up being associated with something illegal like that, it would probably ruin my career.

I don't judge. But practically, it wouldn't be worth taking that chance.

I wouldn't, but it's not because I want my boyfriend to be a "law-abiding citizen", although that's definitively a plus.

Just the smell of smoke in general is enough to make me cough and make my throat dry, so I tend to stay away from smokers. I have relatively weak lungs as well (diagnosed with a light case of asthma, although it's probably moderate instead).

Plus the smell of pot is just awful (tobacco too).

It has less to do with the law to me. I just am not a fan of it.

    ^This.

I wouldn't even if it were legal, because I can't stand the smell.

Oh, I guess I should have added another option.
I personally don't really like it, but if it were legal, it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me.

I wouldn't, but it has nothing to do with being a "law-abiding citizen" it's just because I think marijuana is one of the most disgusting things ever.

It being illegal is minor. I just disapprove of marijuana for some reason. So no.

I absolutely loathe laws like that. Ones that interfere with personal lives and serve only to protect/annoy the person making the choice to take the action. So I'd think highly of the law-breaking.

Specifically, though, I wouldn't want the partner in question to be smoking tobacco with the marijuana (or separately, either). I hate tobacco.

So long as they kept it in moderation, it wouldn't bother me a bit.

    Mmmmmm cannabis.

I haven't smoked in a while but I LOVE the smell of the stuff and it's great if you have insomnia. It's crazy that we prescribe all sorts of horrid man-made chemicals to help people sleep at night when there is a natural alternative. I used to toke a bit right before bed and it worked wonders. I'd do it again if I had a supplier. Where I live, technically it's a crime but you're only going to get into trouble if you're dealing. I even had a couple of plants growing in my closet when there were cops swarming my house when we kicked my step-daughter out and she showed them the plants and they didn't care. As it should be. Pot is WAY more healthy for you than alcohol or cigarettes and I won't touch either of those.

Anyway all that said, I would still be choosy about a partner who smoked. I have nothing against it but if you smoke so much that you can barely function then uh-uh... Everything in moderation. Same thing with drinking. I have nothing against drinking even though I don't drink, but excessive drinking is on my no list as well.

    'something illegal like that'

I'm not trying to start a debate on the legalisation of weed or talk directly about weed at all - we've already had some very good posts for, against and about that topic - but do yous realise the irony that you're asking this on an LGBT site? Simply dating a member of the same sex would've meant that you wouldn't have 'been with a law-abiding citizen', or in fact wouldn't have been one yourself?

Laws are most of the time in place because they're deemed sensible, but whether or not you support the legalisation of weed, laws shouldn't be abided to simply because they're laws.

It's legal in my country. The thing is I don't know if I could be in a relationship with a pot smoker.
