Well, After two days of issuing other rulings, TOMORROW, the US Supreme Court WILL hand down a ruling on Prop 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act. Ironically enough, my local paper posts on their Facebook page, "Marriage rates are at an all-time low. What's keeping you from getting married?" I commented this: Republicans are what's keeping me from getting married... "The union of one man and one woman in marriage shall be the only agreement recognized as a marriage or similar union for any purpose." -Michigan Constitution If SCOTUS rules the way we want them to, would any of you be getting married soon?
It would help if I had someone to marry... ---------- Post added 25th Jun 2013 at 03:08 PM ---------- Same sex marriage is legal in my state. Making it legal in every state--regardless of how that happens--would only mean one hypothetical change for me: a willingness to consider living in states where same sex marriage is currently not legal.
I live in Texas, so barring sweeping rulings, it'll maybe be a decade before I can get married. At least this gives me the chance to find that special someone I want to spend the rest of my life with :icon_bigg.
