This made me laugh, I was talking to an Unionist (an Irish person who wants to be in the UK) today who was going on about some odd Royal thing and how he is jealous that I am a "subject by birth" and I said that I am a British republician and therefore I am nobody's subject! I was abruptly told that I am a traitor and advocating a republic is treason!!! I actually checked around the net and it actually is illegal. Whats so bad about wanting a change
Northern Ireland is still part of the UK, so I would say they are a British Subject, or were, as I think Subjects are now Citizens British subject - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think alot of them get touchy with that, since alot people in England, Wales and Scotland forget about NI being in the UK, alot don't consider it part of the UK ---------- Post added 26th Jun 2013 at 11:00 PM ---------- Fair doos, its the Republican flag btw. Just a symbol just like the Rainbow flag I have never been that much of a fan of the rainbow flag, I don't know why. I just think it would look better if the colours went vertical instead of horizontal. I actually use the Red = now instead.
Yeah, but (I believe) it is the flag of british republicans, rather than republicanism in general. I am morally and politically opposed to the existence of nations, so national flags are not exactly my favourite things.
Ooooh so pure stateless Communism. I would love for that to happen. Sadly I don't think it will ever happen in our lifetimes, The best I can hope for is a Socialist GB with everyone treated equally. I actually come from a well off tory family, I was put in an independent Catholic school, but I didn't know if I liked it. It was only when I went to uni, got to see the poverty, the inhumanity that exists in the world. How people in power used to (and still do to an extent) treat LGBT people, how the Tories rolled out section 41 in the 1980s, how Labour and the Tories tried to enforce mass surveillance (which has succeeded with GCHQ) on us etc. Socialism has done alot for the UK, look at the NHS. We have universal health care, people are given the treatment they need not what they can afford (as in the US where horror stories come from people mortgaging their houses to save their own lives) , done properly the UK would probably thrive under it. I do admire your dream though of a stateless world with only humanity (we are all human) but we are still content with blowing ourselves up
Anarcho-communism, specifically Unfortunately, I agree that it won't happen within our lifetimes. Still, I can dream.
