Just sent an email to my mom saying that I'm gay

    Well, I can't believe I did it but I did. The email is in her inbox, waiting to be read. Oh boy I am so nervous. We just watched a report on Gay treatment by churches and my mom said that homosexuals are just that and they are treated differently because of that one aspect of their lives and doesn't agree with the church. Give me happy thoughts, please...

    First of all, congratulations on taking that step. As I'm sure you know, it takes a lot of courage. There are few things that are harder to tell than that... within reason.

    Secondly, in the long run, I think she'd be fine with you. In the short term, she may react a bit differently, but that might be to be expected, as she has to presumably reconcile her views of what she thought you were with who you actually are, even if you actually haven't changed. But with that said, best wishes to you and good luck =)

    So this is how it all went down:

    She read the email and asked me what I meant by 'I think I am gay' and I explained that if she didn't react good I could fall back on that. She then told me she loves me the same way she did half an hour ago before she knew and warned me of who I tell and that there is still discrimination against gays. The last thing is when I am going to tell dad. She says she can't hide secrets from him for very long. The last thing is that we would have a talk about it.

    Congrats man! For future reference, people are already going to think you're confused.. stand affirmatively when you come out the next time and say, "I am gay" You've been thinking about it for years lol.. Congrats again and cheers to a more open relationship hopefully!
