So , I finally came out to my mother .. Just not the way I was expecting. My mother came to visit me for my birthday on Saturday , I had that big plan on sitting her down at home to tell her I was gay...Well we went to the cinema to watch the way way back (Great film by the way) and while waiting for the movie to start I told her "I have something important to tell you tomorow" and then she said "Did you find a nice girl ?" I laughed nervously and said "Well...not really..." She looked at me and said "Why you are saying this? You are not gay are you ?!" I laughed and repplied "no are you crazy.......hum..yes I am" I was expecting something really deep to come out from her but she said"Its OK I don't mind really...but I tell you ,you better start dressing better if you are gay " then she hugged me and started embarrassing me talking about how she would like me to date someone handsome like Neil Patrick Harris to that I had to reminded her that I am just starting to accept this fact about me and to be quite because people were around us lol So there , it feels so unreal that my mother knows now but I am so happy that it did not affect her feelings towards me but I knew my mum was an awesome person so it did not surprise me. My dad and bro , I will wait before telling them , they are big homophobes , I'm just glad I have my mum on my side now
That is a really sweet story and what an awesome Mum! Congratulations! By the way, your "big homophobes" may not be so big when it comes to their own relatives...keep an open mind!
"you better start dressing better if you are gay" That made my day. Compliments to your mother, lad. Spiffing lady she is.
Well Done!!! That's a brilliant response from your mum I think. I thought my dad and Grandad were homophobes, but when it came down to it. They both just said, 'I'm happy for you, and proud of you. That was pretty much it.
Congrats! Love your mom's response. As for your dad and brother - they might surprise you. Plus, you have your mom on your side, so you'll be good.
Thank you guys ! Its all good , its really nice being able to talk to my mother about things I couldn't before. Now I have to build up the strength to come out to the rest of my family but now that I have her on my side it will be much easier.
Great news, Remie! Your mom is the best in my book. Your dad and brother could surprise you. My dad said he didn't have a problem with gays when I told him I was bi'.
 Even if your mom is so fun and open-minded this doesn't mean you needed less courage to tell her! Congratulations!
Well , its all good , I really can believe how accepting she is of it.We both discussed it and my next step would be to work on myself before coming out to the rest of the family. I am so grateful for my mum right now!
