I'm going to make a Facebook post tomorrow for National Coming Out Day, just outright ripping the Band-Aid off. Thoughts?

    What do you think?

I think it's great. I was actually thinking of doing something like this myself. Your letter sums everything up perfectly. Good luck! I really hope that you go through with this, because it's a great next step and a good idea. I was thinking of telling my parents tomorrow and maybe some friends...

Well, I've already provided my immediate family advance warning, so I'm committed at this point!

(and I've gotten responses from the two brothers that I thought might have problems with it - none whatsoever)

Very well written, and it pretty much sums up the life of a closeted person. Hope you only get positive responses . Congrats, it's a big step.

RainbowMan, that is awesome. So awesome, in fact, that I plagiarized a majority of what you wrote into my own Facebook coming out status... But I'll start my own thread as to not steal yours.

That's great! Very gutsy! I was thinking of just saying "Happy National Coming Out Day!" as I've already changed my "interested in" status a while back but I don't think anyone really looks at that. I'm too afraid to make an announcement because I'm a pretty shy person anyway so I was thinking that this more passive way is more my style. Still really nervous though. Like, I have it all typed out and I just haven't hit that damn post button yet! gah! haha

I read your post on the way to a meeting today. You had me chuckling with putting up a GPG signed copy of post.

Hey, had to be non-repudiated, right?

Anyhow, the response was entirely positive, just as with drs. My family was completely awesome, some of them didn't know, especially some extended family.

BTW, I just checked the webserver access log. 34 unique IP's have hit that URL, so I guess you're not the only one that found it cute
