I've been wanting to come out to my mum for a while now but I've tried to say it but I open my mouth to say it and I can't seem to say it. I wrote a letter last night but I threw it away because I really want to come out to her face to face. She isn't homophobic at all, and she always says how she will love me no matter what (I think she knows perhaps idk) but I just find it really hard to say it...

OK forgive me if this SOUNDS stupid but hear me out.

Think of a coming out speech. Doesn't matter about it's content, just as long as it has lots of fluff at the beginning.

For all it matters you could start it "Four score and seven years ago a child was born with an incredible gift, but enough about my genitals..." the point is the start of it needs to be long enough for you to get from your bedroom to wherever your mum is.

You're going to start your speech alone in your bedroom. Just saying the things out loud. You're going to walk out of your bedroom door, but you're still talking. Maybe at this point your talking about how this boy just LOVES Jelly bean and peanut butter soup and is also a black-belt in basoon! You keep talking until you get to whatever the hell room your mum is in, at which point you should be winding up to the important parts about how you've known for a long time and you feel confident about yourself inside. You walk up to your mum, she's giving you weird looks because she already heard you talking on your way down the stairs and then you get the the most important part "in conclusion, I am as gay as the Dean of Gay University, Gayborough."

Obviously you don't have to go quite as far with it as I just said, but try starting the conversation by yourself and taking it to your mother, if nothing else she'll probably ask you whats up if you walk up to her making some sort of speech then stop as soon as she turns around.

Failing this, although I admit it sounds like a great idea, try writing everything down and reading it out. That way you can do it face to face without having to ad-lib or make eye contact.
