Hey everyone, basically the situation is that I want to come out to my best friend. I was writing a letter to go with his Christmas presents today (as he lives on the other side of the country) and I was just thinking, should I come out to him. He has told me that he has other gay friends and he's okay with it but we always joke around and he jokingly asks me if I'm gay and I always say yeah. But, I don't know if he is actually acknowledging what I'm saying or is just completely ignoring it. Any help on this matter would be excellent! Thanks, Ryan!
Sounds like a good plan. You may something like "hey I know we always joke around about me being gay and I want you to know it's true."
Just so you know, I've put the coming out letter in a different envelope and I'm not going to let him open it until I'm ready
I came out to my best friend last week and it was very similar to this. If he is your friend, he'll do his best to support you, and it sounds like he is pretty understanding of others. I hope all goes well for you! Keep us updated!
He has asked you if you are gay and you said yes. I don't think he is going to be that surprised if you tell him again in a letter, and he is clearly OK with it, but do it "officially" in writing when you are ready, if you don't think it "took" the first few times.
