I actually told the friend that referred me to this site, she's the one that helped me realize too.

The first person I told was a close male friend of mine. He was supportive of me, although a bit shocked at first, but he helped me a lot. I was only like, 17 at the time and I was afraid that I wouldn't be accepted by my family. However, they more than okay with me liking women.

The first person I told was my best girl friend. She is an artist and she liked to draw lesbians making out, even though she is straight. It went really well for me, she was so supportive and loving!

I always tell people, for the first person they tell, make sure it is someone who will for sure be supportive and loving. You will have a friend to go to if someone doesn't respond well after that!

    Good luck

My best friend. She had no clue and I beat around the bush for at least an hour before I came out and said it.

My closest friend. It went pretty well, and his attitude about me hasn't changed at all.

I told one of my best girl friends. She's super liberal and a big LGBT supporter, so I thought she would react fine and she did! She's been probably my biggest support since I came out.

My best friend who pried it out of me and then gave me a high five. We were talking about it a few days ago and she had no memory of what had happened when I did whereas I wrote a whole English essay on it XD

An Internet friend 1000 miles away, who I later visited in person, and continue to consider a "long-range" friend many years later; he helped me interpret what my feelings meant at a time when I still had no substantial clues.

It was actually a user on here that I know in real life. More like, I was questioning, and I was kind of dancing around it, and she just looked at me and told me straight up.

I'm pretty sure that's why she is my bestie

I told my best friend, and he was completely supportive, and treated me just the same. I kind of knew that he would, although I was shaking while doing it. Everything was cool, really. x

The first person I told was my younger sister, if I remember correctly. I think I first told her that I was bi, because I couldn't quite get the words "I'm gay" out, and then I later came out to her as a lesbian. All she said was, "I know." She couldn't have been older than 13 or 14 at the time. She's always been pretty accepting.

I told a close female friend when I was about 15... I told her very gradually, just hinting at first, to make sure she would be cool with it.

I'm not exactly sure who I told first...it was either the trans gal I'm currently dating, the trans gal who is now my best friend, or my former internship supervisor who was super supportive last year when shit hit the fan in my personal life. Even though I knew all 3 ladies would be cool with it, it was still incredibly nerve wracking.
