I think I've finally convinced myself to do it. I just realized today that my parents reactions aren't what I'm scared of, I'm afraid of how huge a change and how damn hard transitioning will be. I realized that I've been seeing my parents as an obstacle, that telling them is something I just have to get out of the way if I want to move forward. It finally hit me today that they love me and just want me to be happy, it really just sunk in today that I actually want to tell them. I want them to know why I'm so unhappy and to give them a chance to help me instead of just continuing to shut them out. I know that given time they will accept me and he'll maybe they will even help pay for some of it. I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to tell them but I know I want to. For me the worst part of dysphoria and the depression it causes for me is that I feel so damn weak and helpless, like if someone so much as touches me I'll just shatter. I know that I'm a strong person and I've been hiding to damn long. The hardest part of any of this is going to be telling them because I honestly don't give a rats ass what anyone else things of me, so I just need to pull it together and do this. Wish me luck. I'll be on tonight letting y'all know how it went! (!)

I came out to my mom fairly easily, but really struggled telling my dad. He struggled with my transitioning for a long time. My advice is try not to take their initial reaction too personally, and give them time to get used to the idea.

I don't think we have an update yet. That's a different user with the same avatar.

    And good luck!

Good for you! I'm always so, so impressed when people on here make a plan to do something positive about their situation and have the courage to act on it so quickly. I hope your family provides a loving and supportive response!

How did you deliver the letter -- was this an email? I hope they get back to you quickly because I imagine the wait would be pretty tough.

Long wait... just hope when they finally see it it works out. In the mean time, I guess try not to stress out about the lack of response.
