Invite him for a coffee or a drink. Talk to him. Get to know him, and let him get to know you. This will allow him to become more comfortable to talk about it. After a while, tell him how you feel about him. Show/tell him that you will be supportive of him and that you will be there for him. Give him the time though that he needs.

"Doctor, tell me, what do I do?"
"Well, from what I understand, you're in the textile business."

You can both sit there staring at each other, waiting for the other to make the first move.
Or you can grow a pair and make the first move.

Tell him you like him, and you're not sure how he feels about everything, but you'd like to take your relationship to the next level. Tell him if he's ever interested, to let you know.

...oh, wait. You tried that? And he's too scared to make a move after all that?

Then he's not worth the effort. Find someone else.

you guys. i've seriously done all of this.
and asteroid, we know each other well.
we've known each other since 6th grade.

and we've never been like best friends.
but we've had drama for the last 4 years of high school.
    and we're good friends.

in 6th grade, we took the same girl to the sadie hawkins dance.
and then our senior year, (a couple months ago)
I asked him to sadies. i made a little comic book,
of like me asking him and left him an empty speech bubble at the end.
he never gave it back. never said no.
but he always told me i should cut my hair, then i finally did,
out of my own choice, and technical difficulties, right before the sadies thing.
he told me that day, he liked my hair, 3 times. ;x
but after our last play, he gave me the biggest hug.
he slapped my ass in rehearsals.

it's the worst, he is so confusing!
all of my girlfriends in drama were like, "he likes you so much! It's so obvious, wait till after graduation!"

it's after. and he's sending me myspace messages every so often, but nothing yet.
it's so annoying. i don't know what he's gonna do.

and I said I wasn't gonna get detailed like this, cause the details don't matter.
but here I've gone and done it. ;x

yeah and meanwhile, i have the whole pedo thing.
he keeps my mind off that... but still. ;x

It seems he is very afraid of your reaction or something...Maybe you can play his game and act like him,it will help him release himself...

Oh okay that changes it. Well if you know him and he knows you, then it shouldn't be that difficult. Tell him how you feel about him in no uncertain terms. If he still does not give you a clear answer and if he still plays around, then I think it you should give some thought to Lex's suggestion on trying to find someone else.

You have tried. But if he still doesn't see that he can tell you how he feels about you, and that he can trust you, there is not much more you can do.

yeah but see, it's like everytime I go to move on.
he comes back and does something that makes me think
he's close to talking to me about it.

like, i mean, i've made a step, I've gone out with guys,
and had a bf since i've been trying to get over him
and now i'm finally almost over him and he messaged me this morning
saying, there was this speaker at his college that reminded him of me,
and how he wants to look into the theater program.

    if you knew him,
    he doesn't message people much
and it's usually not thoughtful messages... ;x

    he has plenty of friends.
we were equally as popular in high school.
and he was popular longer than i was.

and he was one of the top notch students. ;x

He has invited you to come along. It is up to you if you want to go. If you do decide to go, and if he behaves around you the way he has in the past, tell him that he has to stop with it. Maybe that will give him something to think about. To me at least, it sounds like that he is just playing a game with you.

I would suggest though to move on. Try to find someone else.

Haha which one are talking about?
I'm fine with the kid now. I've made up my mind on what i'm going to do and how to handle things. but if I'm gonna be honest, this guy is far more important to me.

    FAR MORE.

    You've come out.
You've told him you have feelings for him.
    He hasn't responded.
It seems like all your effort hasn't had any effect. It's only when you're NOT focusing on him that he takes these tiny baby steps, and then you swing back and focus back on him. I'd say keep your focus off him. All your efforts to do it directly have failed. Here's hoping that you dating other guys will finally force him to get off his tail and start taking some steps himself. Besides "this guy reminds me of you", I mean.

well im pretty sure the girl i like, who is out in the open, knows i like her, and if she said anything to me about it, or told me she liked me, id act like i didnt care, and deny i felt anything or was interested, till i was blue in the face. cause im not ready to admit it to people, cause once i do, i'll need to start telling everyone else. i think i'll only do it when im ready, evidently this guy isnt ready (did you say he has said hes gay to you, or only that it isnt acceptable in his house?), im not sure what you can do. but maybe he might pluck up the nerve to move things along if you give him some time. you've made it clear you're interested, so now its a waiting game i guess. if his family are deeply religious tho maybe the best you could hope for is a secret relationship, if they are the reason hes still in the closet.
