My big bro is home from college for the summer. He is 19 and he and I have always gotten along. He never treated me like a lot of older bros. He did things with me and taught me a lot about sports and even let me hang with him when his friends were at the house. As my Mom figured it out I thought he would realize I am gay soon also. So I decided to tell him last night. When I told him, he was silent for a bit, then grabbed me in a big hug and told me that he was always my big brother and would always love me. He said he knew I was a bit different and was thinking maybe I was just slow with girls. We talked until almost midnight. I am not sure who asked the most questions. He told me if anyone ever gave me a hard time to just let him know. And that I was not to take any bullying. To always tell him or Mom. We talked about telling Dad and both agree now is not the time. To give him and Mom some time to work on a way. I did not tell him my only experience with with the younger cousin of one of his friends. That will have to come late.(see other post) So now I have 2 in my corner. Slowly I am coming out of the closet a peek at a time!
Congrats! It's a huge relief having the support of your siblings. Both of my older brothers know and are very accepting, and I love that. My brothers will always be my brothers, and having their love and support is unequivocally one of the most important things to me.
