    Hi all!

I'm going to a gay pride event this Sunday with my mum, sister and a friend who is also gay. I came out to my sister a few weeks ago and she reacted really well, she supports me 100%, and I've been out to my friend for quite a while.
I'm thinking of coming out to my mum at the pride event. She has quite a few LGBT friends and is very supportive towards people. She has taken me to various pride events in the past. Deep down I know that she won't have a problem with it, but it's just saying it in the first place.

Do you think that coming out at a pride event would be a good idea?
    Please discuss.

    Thanks guys! :icon_bigg

Thanks Magical me! I think it's just choosing the right moment while I'm there.

I'm sure that'd go great! If she's taking you to a pride event, I'm pretty sure she'd be fine with it... And what better place to tell her?! ;D

    Good luck!

    Sounds fantastic.
Just make sure you do it sober (not that you'll be drinking at 17).

Be an odd choice of locations for her to reject you, wouldn't it?

"THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE GAY?! Oh no, not in MY house...

*hundreds of concerned gay folk turn around disapprovingly*

    Or...to put it another way...it's....fine?"

sounds great. Makes me wish that I (or my family) personally knew someone else that was gay. Might give me some courage/hope. But kudos to you for doing it.:eusa_clap:icon_bigg

Thanks for all your encouraging support guys! It means a lot. I'm thinking of buying a cake and spelling "I'm gay" on it and giving it her while I'm there. It's just doing it and getting it there without her noticing. :icon_bigg

I'll definitely let you all know how it goes! I do count myself lucky to have such an understanding and open mum. It's a shame more people aren't like that. :newcolor:

If it was me, i'd tell her before you go. Maybe she'll get herself a t shirt with "I love my gay son" to wear for the day

If your mum is totally accepting, and is taking you to pride events, yeah that sounds like a good time to do it!

WOW! I did it. I gave her the cake and she loved it. She wasn't really that surprised. The pride event even posted about it on their Facebook page and they're going to include it in the press release. I'd just like to say thank you to everyone for all your encouraging support, it means a lot! It's a massive weight off my shoulders. [IMG] :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride:
