I'm in a rather difficult situation. I want to come out as bisexual to my family. I Really do. however, the issue with this is I'm South Korean, and only recently move to the UK within the last few years.

In Korea homosexuality is a very hidden topic. People who are homosexual or bisexual usually keep it to themselves or close friends. It's generally not an accepted thing.

I'm terrified that If i come out to my parents they'll just disown me. I am old enough to take care of myself, yes, but my family has always been close, and I think they'd be heart broken if they know I was bisexual...

나는 내가 할 수있는 무언가가 있었으면 좋겠어 - "I wish there was something that I could do."

Do they seem homo and/or bi-phobic to you?

I Don't recall a situation in which we've discussed sexuality. So I'm unsure.

wow that might really be hard then, would you be able to do it face-to-face or feel more comfortable writing a letter, texting/email them?

I'm not sure... i can only see two reactions to me telling them...
    1) They are upset, but accept it over a period of time
    2) I tell them, they get mad with me, throw me out of the house and tell me they never want to see me again. A typical Korean reaction to situations which they are not comfortable with. >.<

I'm already in the UK, I've lived her for a year or so (with my family). And I have some friends here, but I don't want to impose on them. I'm sure one of them would be willing to take me in for a while however.

oh so thats good, your family being in the UK might help change their opinion on LGBT, if you really wish to come out to them, keep me posted when you do though

I will. Except... Not exactly sure how to do that, since the Private message system is only to certain people right?

I see. Thanks. It's been a while since I used a forum of any kind.
    Thanks for your help though.

Hey! I agree with Peacemaker in that being in the UK might help your parents see things differently about lgtb+ people. This can also help you bring topics related to homosexuality to gauge how they react to it. Just take your time and when you feel sure about it you can tell them. I know it's not easy telling someone and be scared of being rejected, but hang in there because sometimes we can get surprised at how parents can react to this sort of situation, maybe they will be accepting, or at least, neutral about you being bisexual.

I hope everything goes well for you.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. But for now, I'm just going to forget about all of the serious stuff and concentrate on getting to know people who are in the same situation as me. c:

That's a great plan and mindset. Enjoy your life on Uk, enjoy making new friends and making new memories that eventually everything will come together.
