I've come out as a lesbian out to ALL of my friends, and they all have accepted me. My girlfriend and I are happy, everyone is okay with us being who we are, so what could possibly be wrong? Well... I haven't told my parents yet, and I don't think I can for three reasons: 1. They are extremely homophobic, and anytime they see a gay/lesbian couple, they act as if the two aren't human. 2. My parents are super religious, and they'd put me down for being a lesbian. 3. I'm afraid they might throw me out if I told them... I don't know what to do... :icon_sad: Can someone help me???
I'd say maybe wait to come out until you move out when you go to college or something? It'd suck to have them treating you badly everyday while you (usually/legally) can't move out. I'm sorry they wouldn't be nice if you told them. :icon_sad:
All but one or two people have said the same thing. I will probably follow the advice and wait, but that means I'll have to wait 4 years (actually, a little less than that). It might get out, but that's a risk I'd be facing sooner or later.
I think it's safe to wait. You are young, so if they don't take it well it will be hard for you to live with them till you can move out. Me, i'm definitely not coming out to my parents till i'm financially independent and i can afford to move out.
