Okay so I want to get The Geography Club and Is He or Isn't He? I am out to my mom, but she is in denial and I haven't talked to her about my sexuality since I came out to her. My public library isn't an option....So should I just ask for my mom to get it? If I go buy it at a bookstore then my moms going to ask what I got...Is there any other way to get the books?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section...

You could ask your friends. Or, go to a bookshop and buy the book, but also buy a discounted book. When you get back, hide the gay book and show her the discounted one, telling her it cost all the money.

You've already come out to her. Just ask her for it, or if you go and buy it, just tell her what you bought! Why are you trying to hide this from someone you've already come out to? You say she's in denial... so why not bring it up again?

    HONESTY really does work!

Well, when I bought my first gay book I went into a bookstore, a big Borders, with my Mom. I said I would be in fiction or maybe young adult, found the book I wanted and offered to stand in line for my mom, because she hadn't found anything. When she asked me what it was about I just said "I'm not really sure it's something a friend recommended" and problem solved. That being said, I didn't need my mom getting any ideas, whereas your mom knows. So just ask her to pick up the book, you don't have to go into detail. Or, even if you dont have your own amazon, ask her if you can use hers to order a book you'd like.

If you can wait that long, you could try asking for a gift card at the next birthday or holiday. Then you can snag the books off Amazon plus whatever else you want.

Go buy them. If she asks what you bought, just tell her, "Don't ask if you don't want to know." If she does, show her.

Personally, I would go to the bookstore and buy it. If she asks what it's about, say a friend just said it was a good book. If she presses for more details, be honest. She already knows, and you have to talk to her about it sometime.

hmm... I can drive, so when I bought my first gay book, I went and got it. I showed my mom another book that I had gotten. Also, I would recommend Hero by perry more. It is a quick read and really good

Go somewhere that has a gift card aisle (usually Safeway or a major grocery store), including VISA gift cards. Just buy a VISA card with cash then use it on Amazon.

Man I had the same problem a while back. Are you out to any good friends? I'm sure they wouldn't buying the book for you. Or, just ask your mom to buy them. She probably won't be to upset about it (or if she is she'll probably hide it). How far are you from the bookstore (I can bike to my local store in about half an hour, are you close enough to get there on your own?)? That punctuation looks weird...
    Good luck.

Great advice Jim! It would be a great way to bring up the conversation again and nudge mom out of denial a little bit.

Another option is to buy one of those pre-paid Visa cards and then use it at Amazon or Barnes and Noble online.
