    Mental abuse. What is it?

I get that it is "mental abuse" but what is it and how is it done?

Psychological or emotional attacks. If people are mocking you or belittling you, that's a form of mental abuse. It can get much worse than that though...
Do you mind if I ask why you ask?

Usually someone you trust, or a group of people, who toy with your emotions and your thoughts. A good example is someone controlling someone else by making them feel guilty about something, like a stockholm syndrome. It doesn't sound too bad, but really I think its almost worse than physical abuse.

Actually I do mind if you ask why but thank you for answering. What is an example of mental abuse though? (I am still a little foggy on it.)

  5. Based on what I've found on Google, several examples of emotional and mental abuse are:
    • Extramarital affairs
    • Frequent humiliation and put-downs
    • Hypercriticism
    • Refusal to communicate
    • Use of sarcasm and unpleasant tone of voice
    • Unreasonable jealousy
    • Extreme moodiness
    • Statement of conditional love
    • Constant ultimatums
    • Domination and control
    • Withdrawal of affection
    Does that answer your question?

    Kind of. Thank you.

I was looking for something that I can use to gauge if it is abuse or not.

Ah, I see. Like a legal sort of situation, or more of a personal definition?

Actually both, more so to see if the legal can be taken and because this is personal. Ja?

    Does that make sense?

Anything that you consider unpleasant is harrasment; if you make the stumili aware of it's actions then it becomes abuse.

So if someone does ANYTHING you don't like (physical, verbal or mental) and you ask them to stop or tell them it's harrasment and they continue, it's abuse.
